This small handbook on Medical Jurisprudence is primarily intended for the use of policeofficers, native magistrates, and vakeels. That such a book was required is evident from the fact that although these officers have daily to deal with criminal cases involving medicolegal questions, the subject of medical jurisprudence finds no place iu their qualifying examinations ; and the only existing systematic treatise on the subject is the classic work of Dr. Chevers, which is too bulky and diffuse for such a purpose. From the lack of elementary medico-legal knowledge amongst those officers, who have to conduct the preliminary investigation of criminal cases, many points of the highest importance frequently escape observation, and cannot subsequently be ascertained. The author, writing for such officials, has succeeded in supplying this want by giving in a simple and concise manner the outlines of
